OBITUARY: Claude E. Black, 1924-2003, Mitchell County, Iowa [ Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted June 4, 2003 ] Claude E. Black Services for Claude E. Black, 78, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, were held Tuesday (June 3) at Queen of Peace Parish St John Worship Center with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flag folding will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and the VFW 1623. Claude died Friday afternoon at the center. Memorials may be directed to the family He was born October 23, 1924 in Little Cedar, Iowa the son Elmer J. and Bertha Myrtle Black. He married Mildred A. Clark on June 20, 1944 in Osage. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1996. Claude served in the Army during WW II. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for construction companies retiring in 1963. He is survived by 1 son: Steven (Kim) Black of Waterloo, 2 Daughters; Carol (Chuck) Allison of Marshalltown, Barbara (Scott) Wienands of Waterloo, 1 Brother: George Black of Mason City, 1 Sister: Kathryn Lovig of Mitchell, Iowa, 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
