OBITUARY: William Carrison, 1839-1931, Mitchell Co., Iowa William Carrison Dies At Home of Son, Clinton Funeral Services Held at Funeral Home in Charge of Rev. Kern William Carrison died Tuesday, June 30, at the home of his son, Clinton, in Burr Oak Township. He had been ill eleven days. Services were held at Champion funeral home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. John D. Kern of the Baptist church. Mr. Carrison was born in England March 17, 1839, the fourth child of John and Elizabeth Carrison. When he was 17 years old, he and his parents followed his oldest brother James to this country, taking three months to cross the ocean. They suffered terrible hardships on the voyage. They went from New York to Stoughton, Wis., where they settled. Mr. Carrison married Sarah Tibbets. Four children were born; George, Alice, Lusetta, and Cora. Lusetta, whose home is in Kenyon, Minn., is the only child of this union living. Mrs. Carrison died in 1871. On June 10, 1872 Mr. Carrison married Bertha Hendrickson. Five children were born to this union; William, Mabel, Clinton, Elton, and Percy, who is living in Estherville. William and Mabel died young. His wife Bertha died Aug. 28, 1900, and Elton died on June 15, 1926. In 1899 he sold his property in Wisconsin and in the spring of 1900 he purchased and moved onto a farm near the Burr Oak church, Burr Oak Township. In 1902 he married Mary J. Peck and soon afterwards purchased a home in Osage. The last four years he had been living with his son Clinton. Three children survive; Clinton of Osage, Percy of Estherville and Mrs. W.R. Galley of Kenyon, Minn.; also fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Carrison united with the Free Baptist church in Wisconsin. On removing to Mitchell County he joined the Burr Oak church. Later he joined the Osage Baptist church.
