OBITUARY: Jennette (Erbe) Lang, 1831-1912, Mitchell Co., Iowa [ Osage News - 1912 ] Jennette Erbe Lang Born April 18, 1831 Died June 2, 1912 Jennette Erbe Lang was called very suddenly to her rest Sunday night after an illness of about three years of heart trouble and dropsy. She had, however been spared much pain and suffering up to the time of her death. The deceased was born in Barchfelt, Hesse Cassel Germany April 18th, 1831. In 1852 she with her husband and mother and two brothers came to America, living for a number of years in Dane County Wis. In 1876 she came to Mitchell County Iowa, living for some time in Cedar Township, afterwards moving to Osage where she lived up to the time of her demise. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss. The sons are Christian and Charles and Henry J. Lang of Superior, Wis., and John N. Lang of Mankato, Minn. The daughters are Mrs. Mary M. Walker of What Cheer, Iowa and Mrs. Ann C. Lesch of Osage. She was the happy possessor of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lang was ever ready to help the sick and needy with love and kindness. While still living upon the farm and in possession of her powers, she was the ministering angel of the neighborhood, always on hand, even at the cost of home interest, to lend a helping and comforting hand, Recent years of feebleness have retired her from activity and from attendance upon the Congregational church of which she was a member, but her heart was still the same in it's eager desire to help. Her funeral services were conducted from her late residence Wednesday a.m. June 5th by her pastor Rev. H.O. Allen assisted by Rev. Jennie Bartholomew, in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. Submitted by Kathy Pike, August 2003 Copyright 2003, Kathy McAlister Pike
