OBITUARY: Susan Kay Miles, 1950-1966, Mitchell County, Iowa Item #1 of 3 [Source: Mitchell County Press-News or Mason City Globe Gazette] SUSAN MILES, 15, OF RICEVILLE, DIED Funeral services were held last Tuesday in Riceville for Susan Miles, 15, who died at the home of her father. She had suffered with a malignancy that first formed in her leg. After the removal of the limb, the condition moved to other parts of her body. She died August 15, 1966. The Rev. David Fye, pastor, was in charge of the services at the Congregational church in Riceville. Burial was at Riverside cemetery in Riceville. Susan Kay Miles, was born Nov. 19, 1950, at Riceville, the daughter of Nelson and Marjorie Meehan Miles. She was a member of the Congregational church and was active in the youth choir, in Sunday School and Pilgrim Fellowship youth group of the church. She would have been a junior in the high school the coming year. Surviving are her father, Nelson of Riceville, her step-mother; two sisters, Mary and Ellen at home; two brothers, William and Randy, and grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Donald Miles and Mrs. Alice Meehan of Riceville. Her mother died in 1957. She had been ill the last year. Born Nov.19, 1950 she was the daughter of Nelson and Marjorie Miles. Her mother died in 1957. Surviving are her father and stepmother, two sisters, Mary and Ellen, two brothers, William and Randy, all at home, her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Miles, and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ed Meehan, all of Riceville.
