OBITUARY: Irving C. Olson, 1916-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 19 NOV 1981] Irving C. Olson Funeral Held At Deer Creek Lutheran Funeral services for Irving C. Olson, 65, of St. Ansgar, who died at a hospital in Iowa City November 13, were held November 16 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with the Rev. E. C. Franke officiating. Irving C. Olson, son of Oliver and Anna Olson, was born October 28, 1916 in Carpenter. He attended Carpenter schools, and was a member of Deer Creek Lutheran church. Mr. Olson served in the Armed Services in World War II from April 1942 to October 1945 with the 370th Bomb Squadron in the Pacific Theater. He married Lucille Ellingson July 17, 1943, and they lived in the Carpenter area where he was employed in construction and carpenter work. One daughter, Kathryn, was born to them. His wife died in 1969. July 12, 1980 he married Marion Williams, and they made their home in St. Ansgar. Mr. Olson was hospitalized from August 1981 until his death. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille; his father, Oliver, and a brother, Merlin. He is survived by his wife, Marion of St. Ansgar; his daughter, Mrs. Rolland (Kathryn) Pike of Rochester, Minn.; his mother, Mrs. Anna Olson and brother, Loren of Bagley, Minn.; three step children, Phyllis Havig of Osage, Richard Williams of Jacksonville, Fla. and Brad Williams of Mason City; eight step grandchildren and one step great grandson; also nieces and nephews. Burial was in Deer Creek Lutheran cemetery, Carpenter, with Rev. Franke in charge of the committal services. Military honors at graveside were by Ogden-Nelson Post No. 613 and Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion honor squads.
