Iowa [Source: Northwood Anchor online - Sep. 24, 2003 ] William Lee Valasek Funeral service for William Lee Valasek, 84 was Tuesday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Osage with the Rev. Rick Magstad officiating. Interment was at the Osage Cemetery in Osage with military rites by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920. William Lee Valasek, 84, of Osage, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. William was born June 15, 1919, the son of Tony and Apolena (Smysik) Valasek. He attended rural schools in the Osage, Mitchell and St. Ansgar area. He was a veteran of WWII. William enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Burma-India-China Theater. His plane was shot down over Japan. William was a lifetime member of the VFW. William met Norma Churchill after he was discharged from the Army Air Corp. They were married on July 21, 1946 in Maryville, Kansas, and from this union they had five children. William farmed in the Osage area for 60 years. He loved and enjoyed his family. He enjoyed all the girls at the Lutheran retirement home. He will be sadly missed by his wife and children. Survived include his wife, Norma of Osage; five children, Larry of Bondurant, Iowa, Steve and Rheta of Whitehall, Montana, Nancy and Dave of St. Ansgar, Janet and Keith of Wichita, Kansas, Carol and Tony of Des Moines; grandchildren, Carl, Chad, Brandy, Kyle, Neil and Tammy; great-grandchildren, Samson and Austin; and one sister Ann of California.
