OBITUARY: William H. Adams, 1848-1932, Mitchell Co., Iowa William H. Adams William H. Adams was born in North Tyrone Providence of Ulster, Ireland, April 1, 1848, and died at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 22 days. He came to this country with his parents, Andrew and Jane Fulton Adams, at the age of 11 years. The family settled in Niles, Michigan, later moving to Allamakee County, Iowa. William was united in marriage to Mary Jane Campbell, October 8, 1868. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were the parents of four children, Lottie, the eldest, died in young womanhood; Lizzie (Mrs. Fred Harshbarger), deceased; Alden, with whom Mr. Adams made his last home; Ida passed away at the age of 2 years. Mr. Adams came to Mitchell county in 1895, living for some time on a farm east of McIntire. In 1900 he, with his wife, retired from the farm, moving to McIntire. Mrs. Adams passed away in the fall of 1920. He united with the Methodist church at Volney, Iowa, in early life, but transferred his membership to the Congregational church of McIntire, where he held membership until its services were closed. Mr. Adams ably filled the office of president of Wayne Cemetery Association for many years, resigning this spring on account of poor health. He passed away June 23, after a long illness, at the home of his son, Alden, and wife. Surviving relatives are his son, Alden, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Neil, of Clarksville, Iowa; one brother, James, of McIntire. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon, June 25, conducted by the Rev. Bodenham, of Riceville, who gave one of those good sermons of his.
