OBITUARY: Charles James Bywater, 1871-1946, Mitchell Co., Iowa Charles Bywater Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the Bywater home for Charles J. Bywater, pioneer resident of Mitchell county, who died suddenly on Sunday afternoon, July 7, of a heart attack while in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, with his wife and daughter. The Rev. E. Bodenham, pastor of the David Community church, officiated and interment was made in the Riverside cemetery. Charles James Bywater was born August 29, 1871, at Mazomanie, Wisconsin. He came to this county in 1894 and married Mary Zilk December 29, 1897. They established their first home on a farm near Riceville and lived there all 49 years of their married life. Mr. Bywater was a man of stalwart character. He was an active member of the David Community church and for many years was a member of the school board in his district. Surviving are his wife; two dauthers, Marjorie, at home, and Mrs. George Button of Riceville; one granddaughter, Kay Button; one brother, George of Lemmon, South Dakota; one half-sister, Grace Ostrich of Riceville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
