OBITUARY: James D. Fell, 1866-1938, Mitchell Co., Iowa. James Fell James D. Fell was born October 22, 1866, at Green Garden, Illinois, and passed away September 22, 1938, at his home in McIntire, Iowa. He was married to Anna H. Berhends at Manhattan, Illlinois on March 5, 1895. Two years later they moved to Williams, Iowa, where they resided for 16 years, two years of this time being spent in Martinez, California. In the fall of 1910 they moved to their farm in Howard County and 5 years later built the present home in McIntire. Three children were born to this union, Raymond J. Fell now living in Austin, Minnesota; Ruth passed away at the age of three years and Anna in infancy. The wife and mother passed away at her home in McIntire in July 1928. He was married July 23, 1938 to Mrs. Mary Mayer, who had been his housekeeper for ten years and who gave him every care during his declining health. Besides his wife, his son Raymond and wife and their two children and six step-children, two sisters, Mrs. Goodridge, Manhattan, Illinois, and Mrs. Pester, Clarion, Iowa are left. Mr. Fell was a quiet unassuming man, strongly attached to his home and family. He has held several positions of trust and was mayor of the town of McIntire of a term of years. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at McIntire, Sunday, September 25, 1938 conducted by Rev. Bodenham of Riceville. Interment was made in the family lot in Wayne cemetery.
