OBITUARY: Hedwig (Hattie) Gemaehlich Lorenz, 1906-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Adapted from: Mitchell County-Press-News online - Posted Jan. 21, 2004 ] Hedwig (Hattie) Lorenz Funeral services for Hedwig (Hattie) Lorenz, age 97, of Osage, were held at Friday Jan. 16, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Hattie died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. She was born September 4, 1906 in Kensington, Kansas, the daughter of The Rev. John and Matilda (Beckman) Gemaehlich. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by her father. On January 9, 1926, Hattie and M.R. (Ralph) Lorenz were united in marriage in Osage. To this union were born three daughters; Lois, Eunice, and Janice. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and its Past President's Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1974, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Lois (Richard) Moran of Roscommon, Michigan, Eunice (Kenneth) Anderson of Osage, and Janice (John) Miller of Sun City West, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
