OBITUARY: Henry Willard Hobkirk, 1877-1947, Mitchell Co., Iowa [4 Items] #1 The Lyle Tribune, Feb 21, 1947 Henry W. Hobkirk Henry W. Hobkirk, 70 passed away at his home in Lyle, Minn., Feb 13, 1947. He was born Jan. 5, 1877 in Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa to Robert and Louisa Hobkirk. Later the family moved to Lyle where he spent the remainder of life. He married Marie Schwandt December 1, 1908, who preceded him in death Dec. 1916. Also preceding was a sister Zada. Surviving are three children: Lee of Osage, Mrs. Freda Haukom of Austin, Minn; and Mrs. Myrtle Peters of Lakefield, Minn; two brothers, Roy and Bert of Lyle and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Wyborny of Mona, Iowa and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Worlein Funeral home in Austin. He had been in failing health for the past several years. A son of Robert and Louise Hobkirk, he was born Jan 5, 1877 in Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa. He moved to Lyle at the age of 13 and resided there the rest of his life. Mr. Hobkirk's wife, Marie Schwandt, preceded him in death Dec. 28, 1916, also a sister at the age of 15. He is survived by one son and two daughters: Lee Hobkirk of Osage, Iowa; Mrs. Herman Peters of Lakefield; and Mrs. Rudy Haukom of Austin; two brothers and a sister: Bert, Roy and Mrs. Charlie Wyborny of Lyle; also six grandchildren. ============================================ #4 MARRIAGE NOTICE: (Austin, Minn., Newspaper) HOBKIRK - SCHWANDT At the residence of the officiating clergyman in this city, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 2, 1908, Henry W. Hobkirk of Lyle Center and Miss Marie R. Schwandt of Lyle township were married, Rev. C.D. Belden officiating. The ring service was read. The bride was very becomingly gowned and carried roses. She was attended by her sisters, Misses Minnie and Katherine Schwandt. The groom is one of the substantial farmers of Lyle Center and he has chosen a most helpful and worthy bride. Her folks have lived for over 12 years just west of Lyle village. We wish them all the prosperity and joy possible.
