OBITUARY: Hans Hveem, 1913-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [From Mitchell County-Press-News online (Edited); Posted June 9, 2004] Hans Hveem Funeral services for Hans Hveem, age 91, of Osage, Iowa, were held Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Hans died Monday, May 31, 2004, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage. Hans was born May 11, 1913, near Wolf Point, Mont., the son of Nels and Julia (Rosie) Hveem. Hans was united in marriage to Joyce Paulson on June 4, 1939, in Osage. Hans started farming in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, later moving to the family farm six miles north of Osage, retiring and moving to Osage in 1981. In addition to his farming, he did custom combining, corn shelling, and trucking in the surrounding area. Hans was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching TV, sports, and fishing. Hans was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman Hveem and Howard Hveem; and a granddaughter Stephanie Ruth Hveem. He is survived by his wife Joyce Hveem of Osage; two sons, Gary Hveem and his wife Frances of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Howard Hveem of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one daughter, Marcia Dedic and her husband Bill of Waterloo, Iowa; three grandchildren, Todd Hveem and his wife Jacque of The Woodlands, Texas, Jennifer Jennings and her husband Rick of Coralville and Joshua Hveem and his wife Debra of Coralville; two step-grandchildren, Christopher Dedic of Waterloo and Melissa Reed and her husband Chris of Shenandoah; four great- grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Kronmiller of Billings, Montana, and Edythe Solberg of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
