OBITUARY: Catherine Joyce Jordan, 1920-1937, Mitchell Co., Iowa Catherine Jordan Catherine Joyce Jordan was born August 9, 1920 at McIntire, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Cedar Falls, on January 29, 1937 at the age of sixteen years, 5 months and 20 days. Joyce attended rural schools nearest her home during her early years, until she had completed the requirements of the grade school. She then enrolled in the McIntire high school, where she finished her first year and her first semester as a sophomore. The family moved to Cedar Falls during the first part of December, 1936 but she remained at McIntire until the end of the semester. Then she joined her parents and had attended the high school at Cedar Falls for one week, when her life was cut short, as she returned from school on Friday, January 29, 1937 being accidentally killed by an auto on Highway 20 in front of her home. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, Feburary 1, 1937 at St. Mary's Catholic church by Rev. Burchard Conrad and laid beside her sister, Mary Lucille at Riceville, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her passing: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Jordan; a sister, Florence; two brothers, Richard Joseph and John Marcus, all of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two grandmothers, Mrs. Ellen Jordan of McIntire, Iowa and Mrs. Joseph Campbell of Phillip, South Dakota, and a host of relatives and friends.
