OBITUARY: Emma Marie Helena (Kirchgatter) Dieterich, 1874-1954, Mitchell, Iowa [ St. Ansgar Enterprise - August 27, 1954 ] LAST RITES FRIDAY FOR MRS. WM. DIETERICH Funeral services for Mrs. William Dieterich, 80 of Toeterville, who died Tuesday, August 17, at the Ulrich Rest Home in Austin, were held Friday, August 20, at the St. Petri's Lutheran Church in Toeterville with the Rev. Otto C. Staehling officiating. Emma Marie Helena Dieterich, daughter of Henry and Caroline Kirchgatter, was born April 25, 1874, in Amshier, Germany. There she was baptized in infancy, and in 1880 came to America with her parents. She was confirmed in the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church. On September 20, 1892, she was united in marriage to William Dieterich. They lived southwest of St. Ansgar until 1919 when they moved to Toeterville, where they lived until the death of her husband four years ago. Since that time Mrs. Dieterich had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Feldt of near Mitchell. She became ill on April 25 of this year, growing steadily worse until on August 10 she became seriously ill and her daughter could no longer give her the care she needed. She was taken to the Ulrich Rest Home in Austin where she died just one week later at the age of 8 years, 3 months, 23 days. Survivors include: 4 children, Ida (Mrs. Paul Kroneman) of St. Ansgar; Ervin, on the home place; Laura (Mrs. Warren Duenow) of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Freda (Mrs. Lloyd Feldt) of Mitchell; also eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emil Grap of Nora Springs and one brother, Albert Kirchgatter of Northwood. Mrs. Dieterich was preceded in death by her husband, one infant son, four brothers and two sisters. Burial was in the Rock Township Lutheran Cemetery with Rev Staehling in charge of committal services. copyright 2004, Sharon Ivy
