OBITUARY: Robert E. Meyer, 1924-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Adapted from Mitchell County Press-News online - Posted August 25, 2004 ] Robert E. Meyer Mass of Christian burial for Robert E. (Bob) Meyer, age 79, was held Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. The Reverend Mark Reasoner officiated. Inurnment will be at a later date, in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Robert died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage. Robert Meyer was born Dec. 8, 1924 in New Haven, the son of Peter and Catherine (Green) Meyer. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in New Haven. Bob farmed south of New Haven. On Nov. 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Madelyn Peterson in Austin, Minnesota. Upon leaving the farm he went to work for Ralston Purina at several locations through 1982. In 1982, Bob worked for Harvest Land Co-op in Morgan, Minnesota, until he retired and moved shortly after to Osage, working part time doing crop adjusting. Bob attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Catherine (Green) Meyer, two brothers, Emil Meyer and Melvin Meyer. His survivors are his wife, Madelyn Meyer of Osage; son, Don Meyer and wife Kathy of Vinton; son, Gary Meyer and wife Michelle of Perry, daughter, Diane Nekvinda of Brandon, South Dakota; daughter, Sue Whiton and husband Scott of Perry; daughter, Kay Drake and husband Mike of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Mark Meyer and wife Tammy of Morgan, Minnesota; son, Dennis Meyer and wife Rhonda of Morgan; son, Dale Meyer of Walker; son, Bobby Meyer of Perry; grandchildren Laura Bollin, Dan Meyer, Amanda Meyer, Michael Meyer, Zoe Meyer, Kris Nekvinda, Andrea Nekvinda, Erik Whiton, Michael Whiton, Jackie Drake, Michele Drake, Aaron Meyer, Jason Meyer, Ashley Meyer and Cole Embry-Meyer; great-grandchildren Cody, Jessica, Kaitlyn and Hunter.
