OBITUARY: Cora Irene (Shumway) Wheeler, 1882-1931, Mitchell Co., Iowa Cora Irene Wheeler Cora Irene Shumway was born December 25, 1882, in Madison, Wisconsin, and departed from this life December 14, 1931, at the age of 48 years, 11 months and 19 days. At the age of 5 years, she was taken into the home of her uncle, E.H. Miles, in Verona, Wisconsin. In 1901 they moved to Iowa and in 1906 she was united in marriage to Irvin C. Wheeler. To this union were born four children: Lois, Olive, Clyde, Warren; all of whom with their father, are left to mourn the loss of a loving mother and companion. At an early age she gave her heart to Christ and became a member of the Methodist church, later uniting with the McIntire Baptist church, of which she was a faithful member at the time of her passing. In the spring of 1926 she was stricken with paralysis and was a continual sufferer from that time by a second attack. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her departure her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Miles, with whom she lived till her marriage; a brother, J.C. Shumway, a sister, Mrs. George Sharrotte, all of Bayfield, Wisconsin, and two aunts, Mrs. Harris Atwood, Minneapolis; Mrs. William Weise, of Los Angeles; other relatives and a host of friends that say of her "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."
