OBITUARY: Emanuel D. Slindee, 1947-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [Based on an obituary in the Mitchell County Press-News; 7/14/2004] Emanuel D. Slindee Funeral services for Emanuel D. Slindee, 56, a recent resident of Good Samaritan home in St. Ansgar, Iowa, were held Thursday, July 15, 2004 in St. Ansgar at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Emanuel died Saturday, July 10, 2004. Emanuel D. Slindee was born August 17, 1947 to Algie B. and Jurene (Stubberud) Slindee at Mona, Iowa. He attended school at Charles City, Iowa and after the tornado destroyed the family home, he moved back to the Mona area. By this time he had developed a passion for cars, the first one being a model T ford. The Auto body business began when a neighbor asked him to paint a car for him. From this time forward he became known as Al's Auto Body Shop. Its' location was on the family farm. Previous to this he had driven a delivery truck for the Gudhart Store in Charles City. On August 9, 1981, he married Linda White of St. Ansgar, Iowa. In 1988 he received a kidney, pancreas transplant at Mayo Clinic. He was chosen to be number one for an experimental combined kidney and pancreas transplant. He became the fifth one done due to blood types. As a result he lived 10 good years. Then it became necessary to return to dialysis treatment. In 2001 his wife Linda donated a kidney to him. He is survived by his wife, Linda Slindee of St. Ansgar, Iowa. His mother Jurene, of rural St. Ansgar; his brother Algie B. Slindee and wife Kay of Elma, Iowa; niece Sonja Cotton, her husband mike and three children, Mia, Jasolyn, and Caleb. Nephew Brent Slindee and neice Nadia Slindee. A sister Terri Nitardy, husband Steve, niece Ashley and one great nephew Elijha. He was preceded in death by his father Algie Slindee.
