OBITUARY: Billie (Barrett) Stanley, 1922-2004, Mitchell Co., Iowa [From Mitchell County-Press-News online (Edited); Posted May 26, 2004] Billie Stanley Funeral services for Billie Stanley, age 81, of Newton, formerly of Spirit Lake, Iowa were held Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at the First Methodist Church, Newton, Iowa. The Reverend Mary Schnepf, assistant pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Billie died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Park Centre Care Center in Newton, Iowa. Billie Stanley was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa on December 19, 1922 to William F. and Clara A. (Pfeiffer) Barrett. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1940 and was also a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Billie was a registered dietitian and worked as an inspector for the Jasper County Health Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years and taught Sunday School for many years; a member and past president of PEO Chapter LC, member and past president of the Jasper County Historical Museum and past president of the YMCA Board and member of the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. Billie was preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors include her husband, Robert of Newton, a son and daughter-in-law David (Lori) Stanley of Osage; daughter and son-in-law Susan (Tim) Morrison of Altoona, four grandchildren, two sisters and brother-in law, Marie Barrett of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Helen and (Ed) Edmondson of Ames, Iowa, several nieces and nephews.
