OBITUARY: Sarah (Workman) Eastman, 1854-1936, Mitchell Co., Iowa Sarah Eastman Sarah Workman was born in Spring Valley, Rock County, Wisconsin, June 20, 1854. When she was 4 years old, her parents were killed in an accident, and she made her home with her sister, Kate. When she was 16, a brother came to Riceville to the home of their sister, Mrs. Barbara Shrode. On June 4, 1872, she was united in marriage to Solon Eastman at Northfield, Minnesota. To this union five children were born. Surviving her are two sons, Amos, of San Diego, California, who cheered his mother by a recent visit, and Derwood, who resided nearby and whose almost daily visits were a source of comfort to her. There are also six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ethel Elwood, Bert and Jesse, with their father, preceded her in death. On January 9, 1887, during the ministry of the Rev. L.S. Cooley, she united with the Methodist church of McIntire, Iowa. Funeral services were held from the late home, southwest of McIntire, Wednesday, April 22, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. F.M.
