OBITUARY: Thomas Edward Barrett, 1930-1995, Mitchell County, Iowa [MASON CITY (Iowa) GLOBE GAZETTE - Aug. 17, 1995] Thomas Edward Barrett Thomas Edward Barrett, 64, of Elmore, Minnesota, formerly of Mitchell, Iowa, died Sunday (Aug. 13, 1995) at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell, with military rites by the American Legion Post #278 of Osage. Visitation will be today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage. Thomas Edward Barrett was born Dec. 28, 1930 in West Union, Iowa, to Donald Barrett and Calista Barrett (nee) Weber. He moved with his family to Mitchell in 1938. He attended the Mitchell schools. He served in the United States Navy. He married Stella O'Rourke and they made their home in the Osage and Mitchell areas. Thomas had worked for L.R. Falk Construction Company, Decklever Ready Mix and Kark Rendering Company. Survivors include three daughters, Peg (Mrs. Richard) House of Haines, Alaska; Toni Gray of Austin, Minn., and Sheila Barrett of Brownsville, Texas; three sons, Michael Barrett of Sasebo, Japan; Patrick Barrett of Rock Spings, Wyo., and Daniel Barrett of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Delores Barrett and Margaret Fink, both of Nora Springs; one brother, George Barrett of Peoria, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
