OBITUARY: Edgar G. Brandau, 1911-1969, Mitchell Co., Iowa Edgar G. Brandau 1911-1969 Funeral services were held Wednesday at Eden Presbyterian church for Edgar Brandau, 58, who died Sunday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for several months. The Rev. Robert Peters, church pastor, was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery near Rudd. Edgar George Brandau was born on April 11, 1911, near Rudd, the son of Henry and Minnie Ahrens Brandau. He lived his entire lifetime in the Rudd area where he was a farmer. He was married to Gertrude Hoppen on March 16, 1936 at Bluehill, NE. He was an active member of Eden Presbyterian Church, of which he held many offices during the years. At the time of his death, he was and elder of the church. He also has served as trustee and president of the men's organization. He was also active in the Farm Bureau and was a 4-H leader. His father and two brothers preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Elaine) Aschenbrenner; two grandsons, Dana and Michael Aschenbrenner; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Brandau of Osage; a brother, Robert of Burlington; four sisters: Mrs. Edward (Lillian) Champion of Marshall, MO; Mrs. Robert (Leona) Day of Clear Lake; Mrs. Stanley (Ruth) Ploeger of Charles City; and Mrs. Warren (Katherine) Towley of Stout.
