OBITUARY: Peter Erickson, 1877-1965, Mitchell Co., Iowa Peter Erickson Funeral services for a former Osage resident, Peter Erickson, 88, of Minneapolis, were held at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage on November 29, 1965. Mr. Erickson, native of the Rock Creek community, was a Minneapolis resident since 1941, and died there November 24th. The Rev. Edward Schlachtenhaufen, pastor of Our Saviors’ Lutheran church, was in charge of the local services. Services were held in Minneapolis on November 27th. Burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Peter Erickson was born July 2, 1877 near Osage to Edward and Carrie Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran church and his early years were spent on the farm of his parents. In his adult years, he was an employee of Mitchell County and of the Iowa Highway Commission. In 1919, he was married to Clara Eidnes of Osage. They established their home in Osage, later moving to Minneapolis, where he lived in semi-retirement, often assisting at Lakewood cemetery there. He was a member of Central Lutheran church in Minneapolis. Continued ill health in the past few years made it necessary for him to be confined to hospitals and nursing homes. Surviving are his wife, Clara, and their son, Loren of Minneapolis. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
