OBITUARY: Anne Marie (Nubson) Fosholdt, 1877-1939, Mitchell County, Iowa Anne Marie Nubson Fosholdt Mrs. Anne Marie Fosholdt, daughter of Christopher and Marit Nubson was born on the Nubson homestead in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa on February 5, 1877. She grew to womanhood in the parental home and was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church. Mrs. Fosholdt received her education in the rural schools of this community and also attended the St. Ansgar seminary. After finishing her education she held the position of bookkeeper for the Hugsrud & Markanvann firm in Duluth, MN for about ten years. On May 14, 1913, she was united in marriage to Harold S. Fosholdt and they immediately located on their farm in Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, where she continued to live until the time of her death. Two children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. Besides her husband and son, Sanford, she is survived by her aged mother, Marit Nubson; one brother, Nels Nubson, of Carrington, ND; five sisters: Mrs. Lauritz (Rachel) Norby, Mrs. Carl (Martha) Field, Lena and Alma, all of this community, and Mrs. Gunia Ask of St. Ansgar. Mrs. Fosholdt was never a physically strong woman, but enjoyed fairly good health until about a week ago. She was taken suddenly ill and it became necessary to take her to a hospital at Mason City. She has always been an esteemed and active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and the Ladies’ Aid society. She was a loyal and good wife and mother, also a true friend who will be missed in the home, church, and community. She died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Mercy hospital at Mason City, March 13, 1939. The cause of her death was a heart attack. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, March 16th, at 1 o’clock from the home and at 2 o’clock at the Rock Creek Lutheran church. Officiating was the Rev. O.C. Myhre, pastor of her church. Interment was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
