OBITUARY: Joseph Hagen, 1881-1960, Mitchell Co., Iowa Joseph Hagen Funeral services were held here Monday for an Osage man, Joseph Hagen, age 78, who died Friday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital. The Rev. Obert Hoven and the Rev. Walter Gigstad, pastors of Our Savior’s Lutheran church were in charge of the services there. Burial was in the cemetery at Rock Creek. Mr. Hagen had suffered a heart attack March 20th and on April 6th he suffered a paralytic stroke. Joseph Hagen was near Dows, Iowa on October 5, 1881 to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Hagen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Dows, and since coming to Osage, has been an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church. He was married to Martha Norby on June 19, 1918. They farmed until 1933, when they moved to Osage. He was an employee of the Oliver Corporation in Charles City for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, Martha; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Selma) Klemesrud of Japan, who is home on furlough form the mission field; and three grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Laura Anderson of Mason City, and two brothers, Lewis of Dows and Oscar of Clarion also survive. His parents, four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
