OBITUARY: Harold H. Hartwig, 1921-1995, Mitchell County, Iowa [MASON CITY (Iowa) GLOBE GAZETTE - Nov. 16, 1995] Harold H. Hartwig Harold H. Hartwig, 74, of 907 16th St. N.E., died on Monday November 13, 1995, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 17th, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating and the Rev. Frederick J. Wood of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City, also officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Harold H. Hartwig was born Aug. 6, 1921, in St. Ansgar, the son of Herman E. Hartwig and Louise (nee) Ruebe Hartwig. He married Verna Plath on Aug. 23, 1942, in St. Ansgar. Harold grew up in St. Ansgar and farmed in the St. Ansgar area until 1966, when he and his family moved to Mason City. He then worked for Builders Supply until retiring. He was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City. Survivors include his wife, Verna Hartwig of Mason City; one daughter, Marjory Daniels and her husband, Delmer, of Mason City; three sons, Gary Hartwig and his wife, Jean, of Northwood, David Hartwig and his wife, Sue, of Northwood, and Duane Hartwig and his wife, Jeanne, of Waverly; seven grandchildren, Stacy and Wendy Daniels, both of Mason City, Tammy Charlson, of Kensett, Scott Hartwig of Pesthigo, Wis., Todd Hartwig of Mondovi, Wis., and Tim and Angela Hartwig, both of Northwood; and nine great-grandchildren.
