OSAGE, IOWA--Herbert Hewitt, 77, of Osage, Iowa, died Saturday, April 13,
1996, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center.  Funeral services
will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, Mitchell,
with the Rev. Rose Marie Lewis officiating.

Burial will be in Osage Cemetery, with military rites at the grave by
VFW Post 7920 of Osage.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Champion Funeral
Home, 702 State St., Osage, and one hour prior to services at the
church on Thursday.

Herbert was born Sept. 1, 1918 at Mallard.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Osage; one daughter,
Karen Hipp and her husband, Steve of Rantoul, Ill.; four sons,
Ronald Hewitt of Pflugerville, Texas, Mike Hewitt and his wife, Deb
of Round  Rock, Texas, CWO3 Melvin Hewitt and his wife, Penny of
Bremerton, Wash., and Dale Hewitt and his wife, Karen of Minneapolis,
Minn.; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his adoptive parents,
one son, and one daughter.
