OBITUARY: Ellsworth L. Klemesrud, 1911-1961, Mitchell County, Iowa Ellsworth L. Klemesrud Funeral services for Ellsworth Klemesrud, 50, Osage insurance agent, were held Saturday morning at Our Savior’s Lutheran church. Mr. Klemesrud died Thursday morning of a heart attack. Conducting the services were the Rev. Obert Hoven and the Rev. Walter Gigstad, church pastors. Burial was the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Ellsworth Lester Klemesrud was born on a farm in the Rock Creek community, the son of Syver and Ella Klemesrud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church, Meroa. He attended the rural public school of his district and graduated from Osage High School in 1928. In 1932 he received his degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Following graduation from college he assisted his father in the operation of the home farm until September 1935, when he began work with the Lutheran Brotherhood life insurance society of Minneapolis. On December 16, 1939 he was married to Evelyn Anderson of near Faribault, MN and they became parents of two daughters, Laurinda and LaVonne. The family has since made its home in Osage, except for the years he spent in military service and during his serious illness with polio. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Osage, having transferred membership from the Rock Creek church in 1940. He served his church in many capacities, acting as stewardship secretary of Our Savior’s from 1949 to 1961. His wife, his daughters, and two brothers survive him, Kinley who lives on the home farm, and the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud of Lyle, MN. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Clifford.
