OBITUARY: Helene Gabelmann, 1923-1995, Mitchell County, Iowa [MASON CITY (Iowa) GLOBE GAZETTE -- JUNE 5, 1995] Helene Gabelmann RICEVILLE -- Helene Gabelmann, 72, of Riceville, died Friday (June 2, 1995) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Riceville, with the Rev. Robert Fegan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lindstrom Funeral Home. Mrs. Gabelmann was born March 8, 1923, in Charles City, the daughter of Frank Meinzer and Violet (nee) Wilson Meinzer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City. She was a graduate of Charles City High School. She married Walter Gabelmann on Feb. 20, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City. From 1947 to 1959, Helene and Walt made their home in Powersville. In 1959 they moved to Riceville. Helen was a bookkeeper and business partner with her husband, Walt. Survivors include her husband, Walt, of Riceville; a daughter, Ruthann Irvin and her husband, James Irvin, of Riceville; three grandsons, Jason, Jeremy, and Jeff Gansen of Riceville; and one sister, Mildred Cummings of Keokuk.
