OBITUARY: Victor Louis Dieterich, 1910-1997, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on Obituary in Mason City Globe Gazette; July 5, 1997] Victor L. Dieterich OSAGE, IOWA--Victor L. Dieterich, age 86, of Osage, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7th, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, southwest of Osage, with Vicar Steven Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, rural Osage. Victor was born Oct. 22, 1910, in rural Osage, the son of Herman and Carolena (Hartwig) Dieterich. He attended schools in the Osage area and graduated from Osage High School in 1929. Victor attended the University of Mississippi, majoring in voice and civil engineering. Later he moved back to Osage and worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. Victor married Ruth Johnson on Dec. 22, 1940, in Osage. They lived and farmed in the Osage area until retirement in 1972, and then they moved to Osage in 1983. Victor was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, southwest of Osage, where he was a very active member until failing health. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Survivors include one sister, Doris Paulsen, Mason City; one nephew, Jim McClain and his wife, Patricia, Seattle, Wash.; two nieces, Dr. Elizabeth Payne, Minneapolis, Minn., and Helen Hansen, Denver, Colo.; four grand nieces; and many cousins and friends.
