OBITUARY: Ina Christiansen, 1909-1997, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on Obituary in Mason City Globe Gazette; April 17, 1997] Ina Christiansen NORA SPRINGS, IOWA--Ina Christiansen, 87, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at the Nora Springs Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery. The Champion Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements. Ina was born July 21, 1909, in Cedar Township, rural Nora Springs, the d aughter of Oscar and Caroline (Olson) Field. She was baptized in August of 1909 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, by the Rev. J.A. Urnes. Ina was confirmed May 13, 1923, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church by the Rev. O.C. Myre. She graduated from Osage High School in 1928. Ina married Alvin J. Christiansen on June 14, 1929, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Alvin and Ina adopted two children, Gene Richard in 1943 and Ruth Ann in 1948. Both children preceded her in death as well as a granddaughter, Shelly Amundson. Ina farmed with her husband until their retirement. Ina displayed her work at the Mitchell County Fair and the North Iowa Fair and brought home many awards. Ina was an avid bowler. She was a faithful church member and sang in the choir for many years. Ina often sang solos for church service programs. She was a member of Sunshine Circle. She is survived by one brother, John Field and his wife, Marie, of Osage, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; one son, Gene; one daughter, Ruth Ann; and one granddaughter, Shelly Amundson. Copyright 2004, K.L. Kittleson
