OBITUARY: Julie (Haas) Fleischer, 1908-1997, Mitchell County, Iowa [Based on Obituary in Mason City Globe Gazette; July 27, 1997] Julie (Haas) Fleischer ST. ANSGAR, IOWA-- Julie (Haas) Fleischer, 89, died Thursday, July 24, (1997), at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after a short illness. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Julie was born June 25, 1908, to Stephen and Christina Haas in Szulok, Hungary. She grew up in St. Ansgar and graduated from St. Ansgar High School. She married the late Alfred John Fleischer on May 1, 1935. They made their home in Wells, Minn. for 20 years. They moved to Sauk Rapids, Minn., where they owned and operated the Farmers Feed and Grain. Julie recently returned to her hometown of St. Ansgar, coming from St. Cloud, Minn. While living in St. Cloud she operated a beauty shop in Cokato, Minn. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish in St. Cloud. Julie enjoyed driving her friends to and from their various appointments. She also enjoyed growing championship African Violets. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred John Fleischer; and grandson, Capt. Bradley K. Fleischer, USMC. Julie is survived by two sons, Ron and his wife, Cindy, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Phil and his wife, Noi, of St. Ansgar; grandsons, Steve and Mark Fleischer of Bakersfield, Scott Fleischer and his wife, Victoria, of Apopka, Fla., Jill and Keith Pickett of Bakersfield, and Rhea Fleischer; great-grandchildren, Kristalyn, A.J. and Maria Fleischer of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; one sister, Magdalin Haas of St. Ansgar; sister-in-law, Hertha Fleischer of Winterset; nieces, Marjorie Stewart, Bernice Sprunger and Carol Parker; and nephew, Jim Fleischer.
