OBITUARY: Carmella Indra, 1919-1996, Mitchell County, Iowa [From Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, August 2, 1996 (edited)] Carmella Indra OSAGE, IOWA--Carmella Indra, 76, of Osage, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture wake service. Carmella was born Dec. 29, 1919, at Stacyville, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Pint) Adams. She attended Stacyville Schools and graduated from Visitation High School. Carmella married Ben Indra on Nov. 28, 1940, at Stacyville. They made their home in Osage. Carmella was a charter member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Study Club. She was also a member of Shakespearean Club, The Alpha Writers, The Mitchell County Historical Society, American Legion Auxillary, V.F.W. Auxillary and served as Sacred Heart Church Historian. Carmella served on church boards including the Education Board, Sacred Heart Advisory Board and the Liturgy Committee. She was an officer in the Sacred Heart Guild and sang in the choir and belonged to ACCW. She held a lifetime membership as a Girl Scout Leader. Carmella was a recipient of the Marian Award as an outstanding Catholic Scout leader. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Campbell and her husband, Robert, of Severna Park, Md.; three sons, Nicholas Indra and his wife, Pam, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Lawrence Indra and his wife, Jeanette, of Winona, Minnesota, and Peter Indra and his wife, Margie, of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, William Adams of Stacyville.
