                         Leonard Johanns

NEW HAVEN, IOWA--Leonard Johanns, age 56, of rural New Haven, died
Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 8th, at St. Peter's
Catholic Church with the Rev. John Moser officiating.  Burial was in
St. Peter's Cemetery.

Leonard Johanns was born June 2, 1940, in New Haven.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Johanns of Osage; his
wife, Bonnie Johanns of New Haven; two sons, Tim Johanns of Osage, and
Terry Johanns of New Haven; five sisters, Angeline Nolda and Theresa
Tinkey, both of Lamont; Mary Miller of Keystone; Rita Hanke of Osage,
and Rose Decklever of Rochester, Minn.; six brothers, Bob Johanns of
Strawberry Point; Larry Johanns of St. Paul, Minn.; Leo Johanns of
Cedar Rapids; Paul Johanns Jr. of Marion; David Johanns of Osage, and
Joe Johanns of Austin, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

The Champion Funeral Home, Osage, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
