OBITUARY: Magdalene (Kloberdanz) Lechman, 1910-1996, Mitchell County, Iowa [From Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, Nov. 20, 1996 (edited)] Magdalene Lechman OSAGE, IOWA--Magdalene Lechman, 86, of Manly, formerly of Osage, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew and the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m. Thursday with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. scripture service at Champion Funeral Home. Magdalene was born July 26, 1910, in Rothmal, Russia, of German descent. Her parents were John and Rose (Lauer) Kloberdanz. She entered the United States with her family at Ellis Island in 1911. The family moved to the Osage area in 1922. She attended Osage schools. Magdalene was employed for many years at both the Hanford Hotel and Park Clinic in Mason City. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Sandra Hawkins and her husband, Monte, of Manly; one son, Dennis Lechman and his wife, Judy, of Salem, Ore.; grandchildren, Kristie Wilkins and her husband, Ron, of Nora Springs, Karrie Lipp and her husband, Bryan, of Mason City, Angela Sorenson and her husband, Jamie, of Hanlontown, Tina Hawkins of Manly, Daniel (D.J.) Hawkins of Storm Lake and Brian Lechman of Salem, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilkins and Kaitlyn Sorenson; three brothers, Peter Kloberdanz of Osage, John Kloberdanz of Osage and Alex Kloberdanz of Charles City; and two sisters, Catherine Arickx of Osage and Leona Niddrie of Ocala, Florida She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.
