OBITUARY: Hans Lundene, 1889-1958, Mitchell County, Iowa Hans Lundene Funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon for Hans Lundene, 69, a resident of the Rock Creek community, who died April 29th at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage. Mr. Lundene had been in failing health for several months. The Rev. I.Z. Hyland was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral home and at Rock Creek Lutheran church. Burial was in the church cemetery at Meroa. Hans Lundene was born on March 21, 1889, in Rudd Township, Floyd County, the son of Anton Andersen Lundene and Anne Marie Norby Lundene. He was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran church by the Rev. J.A. Urnes. He attended the rural school in his community, later enrolling at the St. Ansgar seminary. He was married on May 22, 1918 to Emily Sampson of Waseca, MN. They established their home on the farm on which he was born, and on which he remained until the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Emily and three daughters: Mrs. Melbourne (Maybelle) Havig of Osage; Mrs. Dale (Hannah) Welliver of Mellville, PA; and Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Onken of Floyd; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Cora) Larson of Rudd; Mrs. Ervin (Mabel) Nelson of Waterloo; and Mrs. Elza (Ida) Steelman of Teheran, Iran.
