OBITUARY: Albert Oscar Nelson, 1873-1941, Mitchell County, Iowa Albert Oscar Nelson Albert Oscar Nelson, son of Nels and Inga Olsen Nelson, was born December 2, 1873, in Rudd Township, Floyd County, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Osage on March 10, 1941. The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church. On May 25, 1898, he was united in marriage with Clara Emilia Knudson. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Johan Olsen at the Rock Creek Lutheran church. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson lived with his parents until March of the succeeding year, when they moved to a neighboring farm, which they then purchased. This farm remained their home until 1920 when they retired to Osage, and where they have continued to reside until the present, except for one year spent on their farm. In 1923 Mr. Nelson, in partnership with Nels Johnson, bought and operated a shoe store in Osage. After Mr. Johnson's death, Mr. Nelson's son-in-law, Virgil McGhan joined the business as a partner. In 1927 the business was sold. The widow and two children are surviving: a son Ervin Arthur of Waterloo and a daughter, Cora Alice (Mrs. Virgil) McGhan, Lime Springs. There are six grandchildren who also survive. Mr. Nelson had suffered a heart ailment for years. Therefore, while death came suddenly, it was not unexpected. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Champion Funeral home, with the Rev. T.P. Solem officiating. Interment was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
