OBITUARY: Ervin Albert Nelson, 1899-1977, Mitchell County, Iowa Ervin A. Nelson Funeral rites were Saturday afternoon for Ervin A. Nelson, 78, of Waterloo, Iowa, who died December 14th. In charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage was the Rev. Paul Metzger, pastor of Rock Creek Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Ervin Albert Nelson was born February 18, 1899, in Floyd County, the son of Albert and Clara Knudson Nelson. He attended the rural schools of his area and Cedar Valley seminary in Osage. He remained a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. He was united in marriage to Mabel Lundene of rural Rudd on February 25, 1920. They moved to Waterloo in 1936. Surviving are one son, Alton of North Ridge, CA; two daughters, Mrs. Norbert Clute (Doris) of Waterloo and Mrs. Don Burke (Dorothy) of Rockford, IL; thirteen grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Virgil McGhan Sr., (Cora) of Osage; nieces and nephews.
