OBITUARY: Mabel (Lundene) Nelson, 1898-1971, Mitchell County, Iowa Mabel Lundene Nelson Funeral services for Mrs. Ervin Nelson, 73, of Waterloo will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Rock Creek Lutheran church southwest of Osage. The Rev. Donald L. Berg will be in charge and burial will be in the Rock Creek cemetery. Mrs. Nelson died Tuesday afternoon at a Waterloo hospital following an illness of several weeks. Mabel Lundene, daughter of Anton A. and Anne Marie Norby Lundene, was born on a farm southwest of Osage on April 6, 1898. She was married on February 25, 1920 to Ervin A. Nelson, also of the Rock Creek community. They made their home for a number of years on a farm in that area, and for the past 35 years they have lived in Waterloo. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and one son: Doris (Mrs. Bob Clute) of Waterloo, Dorothy (Mrs. Donald Burke) of Rockford, IL and Alton Nelson of Northridge, CA. Thirteen grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Larson of Osage and Mrs. Ida Steelman of Yakima, WA, as well as a number of nieces and nephews in the Osage area also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Avery in 1952; her parents; two brothers, Amos and Hans Lundene; and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Larson and Mrs. Edwin (Olga) Horgen.
