OBITUARY: Adolph Theodore Norby, 1890-1937, Mitchell County, Iowa




                          Adolph T. Norby

Adolph Norby, a young farmer of the Rock Creek community, died at the
Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City Monday, January 18th, after a long
period of failing health.

Adolph Theodore Norby, son of Iver and Gustava Hendrickson Norby, was
born on the farm in Rock Grove Township, Floyd county, Iowa, on August
4, 1890.  This place was his home until the time of his death.

Finishing his education in the rural schools, he attended the St. Ansgar
seminary.  Being interested in farming, he followed that occupation all
his life.

His health had been gradually failing since 1925.  On January 16th, he
was taken seriously ill and hurried to the hospital at Charles City,
where he died January 18th, 1937.  The cause of death was influenza
and complications of diabetes.

Mr. Norby received his Christian education in the Rock Creek Lutheran
church, of which he was a member since baptism.  His parents and two
brothers preceded him in death some years ago.

The near relatives that survive him include his sister, Clara Norby of
Waterloo, and two nieces, Gertrude and Lorraine Norby, and nephew,
Harvey Norby, and many cousins in this community.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek
Lutheran church on January 20th, at 2 p.m.  Interment was in the Rock
Creek cemetery.
