OBITUARY: Ida Bertina (Olsen) Norby, 1884-1967, Mitchell County, Iowa Ida Bertina Olsen Norby Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Carl Norby, 84, a native of Mitchell County, who died Saturday morning at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage. Mrs. Norby had been in failing health for several months. The Rev. Donald Berg, church pastor, was in charge of the services at Rock Creek Lutheran church, and arrangements were made by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Ida Bertina Olsen was born January 9, 1884, in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, the daughter of Lars Iver and Anne Regina Larson Olsen. She was baptized at Rock Creek Lutheran church and her confirmation took place at the Osage Lutheran church, now Our Savior’s Lutheran church. She remained an active member of Rock Creek Lutheran as long as her health permitted. Carl Norby and Ida Olsen of Meroa were united in marriage on May 23, 1906 at Rock Creek Lutheran church. They remained in the Rock Creek community until the death of Mr. Norby in 1954. At that time Mrs. Norby moved to her home in Osage, where she remained until the time of her death. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, one brother, two sons, and two grandchildren. Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Kalmar (Rosella) Klemesrud of Osage; two sons, Herbert of Osage and Loren of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Olsen and Mrs. Matilda Norby, both of Osage; one brother, Lawrence Olsen of Meroa; and many nieces and nephews.
