She was born at Gran, Hadeland, Norway on February 7, 1857 to Guttorm and Johanne Gudbrandsdatter Andersen. They immigrated to this country and came to Mitchell County, Iowa in 1874 when she was 17 years of age. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of her native country. On November 25, 1882 she was married to John Olson by the Rev. Johan Olsen of St. Ansgar. They settled on their farm in Rock Township immediately after their marriage, where they lived until 19 years ago, when they moved to Osage. Mr. Olson passed away July 18, 1925. Mrs. Olson has always been an esteemed and active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran church and Ladies’ Society. She has enjoyed fairly good health until about three years ago. About two weeks before her death she was taken suddenly ill and in spite of the best of care, death finally terminated her temporal life. Surviving are four children: Mrs. Oscar (Caroline) Field of Nora Springs, Gust and Julius of this community, and Olga Olson of Osage. Also nine grandchildren, and one brother, Chris Anderson of Joel, WI survive. Influenza and infirmities of old age were the cause of her death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Olson home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran church on April 1, 1939 with the Rev. O.C. Myhre officiating. Interment was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
