OBITUARY: Hilmar Sorlie, 1906-1927, Mitchell County, Iowa Hilmar Sorlie Hilmar Sorlie, son of Lars and Maren Lund Sorlie, was born in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa on May 23, 1906. He was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. His whole life had been spent in the parental home. He attended to rural school in Meroa and also the Osage High School. Hilmar had one serious illness two or three years ago, but apparently had recovered. The past eight or nine months his health had been failing and he sought medical advice, both in Osage and in Rochester, MN, but found no permanent relief. Death occurred on August 15, 1927, the cause being Hodgkin’s disease. The near relatives surviving are his parents, three sisters: Louise and Borghild, at home, and Mrs. Carl (Clara) Flinn of Maiden Rock, WI. Funeral services were held on August 18, 1927 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev. O.C. Myhre officiating. Burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
