OBITUARY: Nettie E. Stromley, 1899-1996, Mitchell County, Iowa [From Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1996 (edited)] Nettie E. Stromley ST. ANSGAR, IOWA--Nettie E. Stromley, 97, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at the Faith Home, Osage, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Chris Gugel officiating. Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter. Visitation will be held today at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar. Nettie E. Stromley was born Oct. 3, 1899 to Ole and Laura (Meyer) Halverson, in Wisconsin. Nettie was confirmed at Six Mile Grove Church, Lyle, Minn. Nettie married Carl Stromley on Feb. 19, 1919, at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. Nettie resided most of her life in the Carpenter and Mona areas. Nettie is survived by her children, Loretta Hofland and her husband, Ira, Lyle, Minn.; Ruth Patterson and her husband, Darrell, St. Ansgar; Louise McPhail and her husband, Robert, Osage; Mary Jane Rieman and her husband, Jurn, Rudd; Rose Rekow, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; Inez Hommez and her husband, Francis, of Osage; Carl Jr. and his wife, Jackie, Lily Lake, Ill.; Gladys Groth and her husband, Arnold, St. Ansgar; Kenneth Stromley, St. Ansgar; Lillian Warrington, St. Ansgar; Betty Tollefson and her husband, David, Lamberton, Minn.; and Diane Petznick and her husband, Glen, St. Ansgar; 47 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
