OBITUARY: Brede O. Wamstad, 1856-1938, Mitchell County, Iowa Brede O. Wamstad Brede O. Wamstad was born at Gran, Hadeland, Norway on December 11, 1856. He came to America in 1887 and lived for some time in the Rock Creek community. He received his education in the school of Norway and also at the St. Ansgar Seminary. After finishing his schooling, he taught for a few years in the parochial school of Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Later he was employed by the Cargill Elevator Company for thirty-five years at Clifford, ND, and in Minneapolis, MN until retiring about ten years ago. While in North Dakota, he was married to Christina Olson of Aberdeen, SD. The nearest surviving relatives besides his widow, are two brothers: Ole, of Parma, ID and Iver, of Oslo, Norway. After a lingering illness, a stroke of apoplexy terminated his active and useful life at his home in Minneapolis on July 18, 1938. Funeral services were conducted at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church by his pastor, O.S. Reigstad, of Minneapolis, assisted by the local pastor, O.C. Myhre, on July 21, 1938.
