OBITUARY: Ella Josephine (Eidnes) Wamstad, 1890-1934, Mitchell County, Iowa Ella Josephine Eidnes Wamstad Mrs. Henry Wamstad, 44, died at her country home last Saturday, following an illness of long standing. She had been treated at various places, however, and at times seemed to show improvement. She was not confined to her bed until only a short time before her death. Ella Josephine Wamstad, the eldest daughter of Lars J. and Ingeborg (Sponheim) Eidnes, was born January 12, 1890 in Mier Grove, Mitchell County, IA. At the age of 5 years, she moved with her parents to the parental L. J. Eidness home in Cedar Township where she grew to womanhood. She received her education in the nearby rural school and later worked for several years in Osage. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar, and later confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where she remained an active and loving member until the time of her death. On May 4, 1916, she was united in marriage to Henry Wamstad of Nora Springs. They located on a farm in Floyd County, where they built up a beautiful home. Here she lived until the time of her death. She enjoyed fairly good health until a few months ago, when her health began to fail. She sought medical aid in Osage and Rochester, MN and was cheerful and encouraged until July 3rd, when she came bedfast. Her strength receded rapidly and she passed away on July 7, 1934. Besides her parents, two sisters, Lula and Della, a brother Oscar preceded her in death. Della passed away only six months ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, a sister, Mrs. Peter Erickson of Osage, and one brother, Elmer Eidness, who lives on the home farm in Cedar Township. There is also a host of relatives and friends to cherish the memory of an unusually kind and generous nature, a loving wife and a loyal friend to all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the home at 1:00 and from the church at 2 p.m. Interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
