OBITUARY: Karen Ann Warrington 1941-1948 Mitchell County, Iowa Karen Ann Warrington Karen Ann Warrington, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Warrington of Meroa, lost her fight against polio on Tuesday night, October 1, 1948 at the University Hospital in Iowa City. She became ill 10 days ago and was rushed to the hospital where her illness was diagnosed as polio. This was the first case of polio in the Osage territory although there were three others in the county. Karen Ann was born November 8, 1941 near Osage to Kenneth and Virginia Benson Warrington. She was a second grade pupil in the Washington school when she was taken ill. She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Larry Lee and Robert Arthur; her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Benson, and grandfather, Vern Warrington, all of Osage. Officiating at her funeral was the Rev. S.O. Sorlien and interment was in the Rock Creek cemetery. Copyright 2004, Steve Norby
