OBITUARY: Adam Weitzel, 1911-1996, Mitchell County, Iowa [From Mason City Globe Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, July 8, 1996 (edited)] Adam Weitzel OSAGE,IOWA--Adam Weitzel, 84, of 914 Davidson, Osage, formerly of Mason City, died Friday (July 5, 1996) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware, Mason City, with the Rev. Frederick J. Wood officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Adam Weitzel was born Dec. 11, 1911 in Hampton, the son of Henry and Catherine (Clair) Weitzel, Sr. Adam was confirmed on April 24, 1927 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Mary Waller on Jan. 18, 1931 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Parsonage. Adam worked for Jacob E. Decker and Sons which later became Armour's for 46 years, retiring in 1973. Adam loved spending winters at his home in Harlington, Texas and summers visiting his farm at Orchard. Adam was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Osage; one daughter, Mary Ann Stricker and husband Harold of Orchard; two grandsons, Kent Stricker and wife Candice of Osage, and Mike Stricker and wife Marsha of Orchard; three great- grandchildren, Mandy Stricker of Osage and Jerad and Shannon of Orchard; one sister, Esther Reisenger of Union; two brothers, George Weitzel and wife Doris of LaFerria, Texas, and Robert Snyder and wife Lynn of Bella Vista, Ark.; two step-brothers, Vic Snyder and wife Ruth of Clear Lake, and Alex Snyder and wife Evelyn of Lansing, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, David and Jacob Weitzel; three sisters, Catherine Challas, Elizabeth Current and Marie Martin; and several step brothers and sisters.
