OBITUARY: Carl Williams, 1878-1926, Mitchell County, Iowa Carl Williams Carl Williams was born in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa on April 15, 1878. His childhood and youth were spent in the native home. At the age of 22 years, he went to Shevlin, Minnesota and purchased a farm; living there about seven years. Later he moved to Crookston, MN, buying land there with his brother Peter. He continued to live there until his death. At Crookston, his sister Laura kept house for him and cared for him during his illness. Mr. Williams was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. He enjoyed good health and was an exceptionally active man until about five years ago, when his health failed and he was unable to do much work. The only near relatives surviving are: G.M. Williams of the Meroa community; Peter and Laura Williams, Crookston, MN and a half-brother, H.P. Benson, of Edmore, ND. Mr. Williams died June 15, 1926. His death resulted from tuberculosis. Funeral services were held at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, Iowa on June 19th at 2:00 pm. Officiating was the Rev. O.C.
