OBITUARY: Knud Alfred Arno, 1896-1973, Mitchell County, Iowa Knud Alfred Arno Funeral services were held Saturday for a local farmer, Knut Arno, 76, who died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital February 13, 1973. The Rev. Donald L. Berg, church pastor, was in charge of the services at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harlan Blockus of Waverly, nephew of the deceased, assisted him. Burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery and arrangements were made by C.R. Champion and Sons. Knud Alfred Arno was born July 23, 1896 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Ole K. and Maren Larson Sorlie Arno. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church and was educated in the schools of Rock Township. Marie Blockhus and Mr. Arno were united in marriage in Elgin, Iowa on February 20, 1918. The couple would have observed its 55th wedding anniversary later this month. They spent their entire lifetime on the family farm. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Mrs. Earl (Muriel) Sprung, who died on February 3, 1972, by his parents and an infant brother. Survivors include: his wife, Marie of rural Osage; one sister, Mrs. Clara Nelson of Osage; one half-brother, Louis Sorenson of Superior, WI; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and five step-great-grandchildren.
