OBITUARY: Joan (Chisholm) Cole, 1932-2005, Mitchell County, Iowa Joan Chisholm Cole Funeral services for Joan Chisholm Cole, 72, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and formerly of the Osage, Iowa area, were held Monday, March 7, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage. Joan died Friday March 4, 2005, at the Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minnesota, following complications from surgery for cancer. Joan was born December 23, 1932, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Rose (Weinberger) Chisholm. She attended schools in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School. She lived in Mason City and Manly before moving to the Coon Rapids, Minnesota area. Joan was first united in marriage to George Froning and then to Bob Cole, both of which preceded her in death. She had worked at Kurt Manufacturing in Coon Rapids and later made her home with her sister Kay Sloan and husband Del. Joan and Kay both worked for Covenant Home Services, dealing with Foster care. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two infant children, Douglas and Debra Froning; two sisters, Mercedes Bredehoft and Kay Sloan; and two brothers, Robert and James Chisholm. She is survived by three brothers, Leo Chisholm (Elsie) of Osage, Lawrence Chisholm (Shari) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Daniel Chisholm (Cathy) of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Delbert Sloan of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Inge Chisholm of Severna Park, Maryland., and Barbara Halladay of Osage; an uncle and aunt, Lawrence and Dolores Weinberger of Osage; and several nieces and nephews.
